Planning for Labour Day Weekend

Savour those last few drops of summer, because it’s just racing by! The end of summer is approaching, and soon it’ll be time to transition back into the routines and rhythms of school and the fall time. No matter how you’re planning to spend the Labour Day long weekend, here are some ideas to get you inspired.

Host a party
A three-day weekend is the perfect time to host a summer get-together. Send out the invitations now to gather your friends and family members for an afternoon cocktail party, pool party, or dinner party. Fire up the BBQ, get the tunes playing, and keep it casual with good food, good friends, and lots of laughter.

Kick back and relax
The last long weekend of the summer may be a busy time, but there’s something to be said for taking the time to relax and really soak up those last long, carefree days of sunshine. Enjoy a leisurely morning coffee on your front porch while watching the neighbourhood come to life. Take a stroll to a neighbour’s home to catch up and share an afternoon drink. Play in the backyard with your kids and dog, letting yourself pause to breathe deeply, appreciate your surroundings, and feel calm and at peace. There’s so much beauty and tranquility in the last few weeks and days of summer – enjoy!

Back-to-school prep
Get ahead of the stress and chaos of the first day back to school by doing some prep work. Along with assembling kids’ books and school supplies, have your kids pick out their back-to-school outfits and to help prepare some lunch staples over the weekend. Having a stash of quick, easy, and healthy lunch items ready to go for the week – like these ham and cheddar lunch box muffins, easy bean burritos, or Mediterranean pasta salad – can make all the difference.
